"Technical issues" hinder the start-up of Kirkuk International Airport
Shafaq News/ The administration of Kirkuk International Airport reported, on Monday, that "technical issues" prevented the airport from starting to operate, pointing to the imminent take-off and landing of the first planes at the airport.
The director of Kirkuk International Airport, Ziyad al-Jubouri, told Shafaq News Agency, that the operational approval of Kirkuk Airport has been obtained since last September 22, but technical issues not related to aviation prevented it from starting to operate.
Al-Jubouri added that "the attached departments such as nationality, airport security and other departments delayed the decision on employment, and they are government departments that do not belong to the investor who has completed all operational requirements," noting that "with the completion of technical and administrative matters, the airport will be opened for a period of three months as a first stage."
Regarding the demand of foreign companies to Kirkuk Airport, al-Jubouri explained, "There are many companies seeking to contract with the airport management," noting that "the initial operation will be international and local."
"Very soon, the first plane will land and another take off from Kirkuk International Airport," al-Jubouri confirmed.
