    [size=45]The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, supervised a special meeting of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, in the presence of the Minister, the Undersecretary of the Ministry, advisors and general managers.[/size]
    [size=45]At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Finance and Economy briefly presented the people and departments of the Ministry, its works, activities, plans, projects and work within the general lines of the government work program for the ninth cabinet, and indicated that a large part of the reform process falls on the shoulders of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, which was able with strong support from the Prime Minister Progress in reducing spending and increasing revenue.[/size]
    [size=45]In his speech during the meeting, the Prime Minister said that since the beginning of the ninth ministerial formation, “we resolved to reform and embarked on it, but unfortunately it was not at the level of ambition due to the outbreak of the Corona pandemic and then the financial crisis.”[/size]
    [size=45]He added, "However, despite the crises, we did not stop. We continued reform, organized local imports and reduced spending. We achieved success and managed ourselves, without resorting to borrowing so as not to cause any responsibility or burden on future generations."[/size]
    [size=45]The Prime Minister indicated that the unnecessary government spending was reduced from $200 million to $70 million, and that the reduction in spending of $130 million and returning it to the public treasury did not obstruct government work and tasks.[/size]
    [size=45]The Prime Minister stressed that revenues have achieved relative improvement in the recent period, and could be much higher within the framework of the government program aimed at diversifying the economy and revenue sources and increasing non-oil revenues, as there are various ways to increase them without creating any burden on citizens.[/size]
    [size=45]The Prime Minister clarified that the ninth cabinet did not impose any new taxes, but it applied tax laws that were not implemented in the past. He stressed that the implementation of tax laws is in the interest of the citizens of the Kurdistan Region, as it will increase income and improve citizens' services, such as paying salaries, reviving commercial traffic and increasing job opportunities.[/size]
    [size=45]In another context, the Prime Minister referred to the importance of activating and reforming the banking system and digitizing government services, expenditures and revenues, indicating that this is an important step towards transparency, reducing red tape and preventing the waste of public wealth.[/size]
