Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Commerce described the automation of the ration card as "a turning point to preserve public money and avoid duplication," while noting that there is coordination with the World Food Program to convert the card from paper to electronic.
“The Ministry of Commerce has coordination with the World Food Program to automate the ration card and convert it from paper to electronic,” pointing out that “the ration card automation project was launched Since 2016, however, he has faced many obstacles.

He added, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani entered the line of automating the ration card through holding a meeting with the Board of Advisors, which resulted in the adoption of another program to automate the ration card, starting in Karbala Governorate," noting that "the ministry is continuing to automate the card with the World Food Program, which It was implemented in Al-Najaf Governorate, and it will include Dohuk, Diyala, and Al-Maamel area in Baghdad.
He continued, "The other governorates will implement this program during the next few days," noting that "the goal of this program is complete electronic transformation, and the elimination of waste of public money, in addition to simplifying procedures through the citizen updating his data through his mobile phone." without going to the food centers.
And he added, "The program will also give knowledge of what has been prepared for citizens from the agent through a mechanism that reaches the Planning and Follow-up Department and the ration centers."
He pointed out that "work in automating the ration card is a major turning point for the purpose of preserving public money and avoiding repetitions."
