Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian affirmed today, Wednesday, that Iraq's restoration of its natural and active role in the region is satisfactory to Iran, while he outlined the objectives of his visit to Baghdad.

Abdullahian said upon his arrival in Baghdad: There are close consultations between Tehran and senior Iraqi officials on important regional and international issues, and "we are in Baghdad today to complete these consultations."

He continued by saying: The regional role of Iraq has become more prominent than ever, and this visit coincides with the meeting of Arab parliaments in Iraq, which indicates the return of Iraq to its natural role.

He added that his visit to Baghdad aims to follow up bilateral issues and continue consultations regarding important regional and international issues.

And Amir Abdullahian pointed out that the return of brotherly Iraq to its normal role in the region is a matter of satisfaction, given our excellent relations with Baghdad, and there are various issues on the agenda of this visit.
It is noteworthy that Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian arrived at Baghdad airport early Wednesday at the head of a delegation on an official visit to Iraq and to hold political talks with senior Iraqi officials.
Amir Abdollahian was received at Baghdad airport by Deputy Foreign Minister Hisham Al-Alawi, some officials in the Iraqi Foreign Ministry and the Iraqi ambassador to Iran, upon an official invitation from the Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
During this visit, in addition to the official talks with his Iraqi counterpart, the Iranian foreign minister will meet with the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council and the President of the Iraqi National Security Council to discuss relations between the two countries and regional cooperation.
