    Information / Baghdad...
The upcoming visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iraq may bring with it good news that will restore water to its streams in the Tigris and Euphrates.

Iraq has pressure factors and papers that the Iraqi negotiator can use in the right way with the Turkish side to ensure the realization of the people's aspiration to obtain water and revive agriculture and the marshes.
This matter can also be exploited by developing relations with Ankara in many fields, especially economic ones, in conjunction with the launch of the development road project, in which the Turkish side will have its share of this road.

Thaer al-Jubouri, a member of the Agriculture and Water Committee, told Al-Maalouma that "there are many thorny files between Iraq and Turkey, some of them before 2003, and there are security aspects and agreements between the two sides to control borders."
Al-Jubouri added, "Erdogan's coming to Iraq will open many files, including the aforementioned ones, the last of which is the water file and Iraq's need for its water share from the Turkish side."
He pointed out that "the water file will be the last in the talks, as Erdogan will get some guarantees or what he wants from Iraq, whether through bargains or understandings, as he will go towards an agreement with Iraq on the water file, since he considers this file a pressure card on the Iraqi government."
On the other hand, a member of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Mahmoud Al-Hayani, told Al-Maalouma that "Ankara, despite the serious crisis that struck Iraq, did not work to give the quotas stipulated in international covenants."

He added, "There is a clear failure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' work towards the file of water cuts by Turkey as a result of the absence of escalation in diplomatic steps to pressure the release of Iraq's water quotas."
Al-Hayani pointed out that "Turkey has built many dams, which have led to a reduction in the country's water shares."
On the other hand, economist Safwan Qusay explained to Al-Malooma that "the Turkish economy is based on a set of pillars, one of which is water wealth."
He added, "Turkey owns the textile industry, and Iraq is one of the consumer countries for this industry, and therefore determining the strength of the Turkish economy, the regions and the advantages it possesses, and allowing these products to enter Iraqi lands in exchange for ensuring that Iraq receives no less than 50 billion cubic meters of water annually."

Qusai added, "The Turkish side needs to activate the partnership in the path of development, as Turkish companies will invest in this path to deliver their goods to the Gulf countries and vice versa, as well as towards China and India."
He pointed out that "the visit of the Turkish president is supposed to be managed with an economic mentality, and Iraq will succeed in opening several files at the same time and work to link the Iraqi economy with the Turkish one on the one hand, and the Saudi and Chinese economy on the other hand."
And he indicated that "Iraq can create permanent job opportunities, economic diversification, and invest agricultural energy in Iraqi lands, as well as food and textile industries that may be available for Turkish investments." ended 25 n
