Representative Muhammad al-Bayati acknowledged today, Thursday (April 4, 2024), that the influence of Baghdad’s political elites will not be absent from the country’s Sunni provinces.
Al-Bayati said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "All Sunni provinces completed the formation of local governments after the end of last December's elections, with the exception of Diyala, which faces complications with a political dimension that contributed to obstructing the process of nominating senior positions."
Al-Bayati added, “It cannot be certain that it has entered a new political phase and the extent of its early success without a comprehensive vision of what it will present during the coming months in order to develop an objective vision,” adding, “But in any case, the influence of the Sunni political elites in Baghdad will not be absent from them, and it is one of the Determine the compass for drawing its map and distributing positions as a result of consensuses after the election results.”
He pointed out that "security, services, and immigrants are issues that gain priority in the compass of the work of governments in the Sunni provinces," suggesting that "they will achieve successes if they invest all capabilities and adopt a road map towards achieving the goals set for them, because they are essentially promises to the masses."
Most of the provinces with Sunni representation decided to divide their senior positions, with the exception of Diyala and Kirkuk provinces, as a result of the complexity of the political scene after the number of seats won by the political blocs that won the elections converged.
