Today, Friday, the Ministry of Commerce set the date for receiving the first quantities of marketed wheat from Basra Governorate, while announcing the presence of one million and 800 thousand tons in warehouses. It indicated that the Prime Minister directed that financial benefits be secured for farmers.
The Director General of the General Company for Grain Trade in the Ministry of Commerce, Haider Nouri, said, “The Ministry has begun the wheat marketing season and has in its warehouses one million and 800 thousand tons of marketed wheat last year,” pointing out that “the Ministry will begin next week to receive the first quantity of marketed wheat.” From Basra Governorate, that is, immediately after Eid.”
He added, "The ministry is heading toward a better season than the last season, especially with regard to the issue of distributing financial sums to farmers."
He stated that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, during a recent meeting held to discuss the marketing season, stressed on the Minister of Finance to allocate sums of money at the beginning of the season and distribute them to farmers as soon as possible to complement the success of last year's season."
