    [ltr]French court issued Friday a ruling on the "Total" group of oil to pay a fine of 750 thousand euros on charges ofcorruption, in the case of the "oil for food" program developed by the United Nations to help the Iraqis during thenineties of the last century.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Appeals court in Paris ruled Friday on the French oil company "Total" to pay a fine worth 750 thousand euros oncharges of embezzling public funds in the case of the United Nations "oil for food" in Iraq between 1996 and 2003.[/ltr]
    [ltr]This penalty and match the demands of the public prosecutor and the maximum penalty applicable in that period, as a rule , "Vitol" set to pay a fine worth 300 thousand euros.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The prosecution announced the innocence of all accused in the Court of First Instance but the prosecutor appealed against most of them.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The opening of the investigation in this case in France in 2002, has turned to several French personalities suspected of having received bribes in two thousand years in the form of oil coupons from the former regime of Saddam Hussein in violation of the United Nations "oil - for - food".[/ltr]
    [ltr]Said lawyer Jean Veil Total , he said the decision "disappointed hopes."[/ltr]
    [ltr]"The appeal is possible but it requires that we know the reason for the judgment of the Court of Appeal , " which were not known motives.[/ltr]
