    The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, called, on Thursday, to secure the salaries of the elderly and the segments without breadwinners, while affirming the determination to legislate and amend laws related to social welfare.
    Al-Zamili's media office said in a statement, "The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, visited Dar Al-Attaa for the care of the elderly in Al-Rashad area, east of Baghdad, and met with its director Ali Abdul-Sada Al-Gharawi, the staff supervising the provision of services, and all the inmates," noting that "Al-Zamili participated in In a Ramadan Iftar banquet held on the soul of the late Jassem Al-Gharawi, the former director of the nursing home, with the inmates.
    He added, "Al-Zamili was briefed on the conditions of the inmates, their requests, and the level of care provided to them."
    Al-Zamili stressed, according to the statement, "the necessity of working to meet all their material, moral and health needs," noting that "the legitimate, moral and national responsibility requires everyone to provide a decent living for every Iraqi, especially the elderly in shelters who have provided all their energy and service to the country, Everyone should provide the best services, care and attention to them."
    Al-Zamili called for “the need to maintain and activate coordination between the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Baghdad Governorate, with the ministries and institutions supporting the work of shelters for the elderly, especially the Ministry of Health and the Retirement Authority and others,” calling on “the government to secure and increase the salaries of the elderly and the segments without breadwinners and to expand the absorptive capacity of the shelters and restore Rehabilitation of dilapidated buildings and equipping them with the necessary requirements.
    He added, "The House of Representatives is determined to legislate and amend laws related to social care and the elderly in cooperation with government agencies to ensure fair criteria and conditions for accepting beneficiaries of welfare or retirement salaries."
