    The head of the National Coalition, Iyad Allawi, stressed today, Thursday, during his meeting with the President of the General Federation of Trade Unions in Iraq, Rahim Al-Ghanmi, and members of the Executive Office, the necessity of providing support to the working class.

    Allawi affirmed, according to the statement, "his absolute support for unions and federations and their work and what they represent in terms of a wide and essential segment of society," calling for "the need to enact and legislate laws that contribute to strengthening trade union work."

    He stressed "the need to provide all support and assistance to the working class because of its importance and a fundamental role in the process of development and construction," recalling the endeavors and work of the interim government that he headed at the time to make part of the factories' shares for the workers in them in fairness to them and their efforts.
