    Shafaq News/ The delegation of members of the European Parliament met separately, on Monday, with the Iraqi presidents and ministers, and described their visit to Iraq as "extraordinary".
    A presidential statement received by Shafaq News agency stated, "The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, met at the Baghdad Palace, a delegation of members of the European Parliament, which included Sarah Skettidal, Dominique Ruiz Divisa, and Marco Campo Minosi."



    During the meeting, "the existing relations between Iraq and the European Union were reviewed, where the President of the Republic stressed the need to strengthen these relations, pointing to" the importance of broad cooperation and coordination between Iraq and the European Union.
    The Iraqi president pointed out "the importance of the delegation conveying the true picture of Iraq to the international community, and the state of security and stability in which Iraqi cities live," noting that "the Iraqi government has developed a governmental program that meets the aspirations of the Iraqis, as it is hoped that the implementation of service, urban and investment projects will begin once the budget is approved." ".
    He added that "Iraq's relations with neighboring countries are good and there is an exchange of visits, and it is an active member of the League of Arab States, as it seeks through its pivotal role to consolidate security and stability," pointing to "the many challenges that require joint action, especially in the areas of combating terrorism, economic cooperation, investment and work." To face the repercussions of climate change, especially water scarcity, desertification and drought.
    For their part, the members of the delegation affirmed "the support of the European Parliament to consolidate the security and stability of Iraq and the well-being of its citizens, and the aspiration towards strengthening prospects for cooperation and joint coordination in a way that develops joint relations," noting that "their current visit to Iraq is exceptional and carries with it the desire to consolidate cooperation and joint coordination in various fields." ".
    The delegation praised "the positive developments witnessed by cities in the areas of security, stability and services provided to citizens, stressing Iraq's pivotal role in the region and the need to participate in the New York Water Conference."
    It is noteworthy that the United Nations Water Conference 2023 will be held from 22 to 24 March 2023 in New York.
    The European delegation also met with the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, where the meeting witnessed a presentation of the overall Iraqi-European relations, and ways of developing them in the various aspects of joint cooperation.
    A statement from Al-Sudani's office received by Shafaq News agency stated, "Mechanisms to enhance Iraq's capabilities in facing economic challenges and the effects of climate change were discussed."
    The Prime Minister explained Iraq's approach to adopting a balanced policy in international relations, appreciating the European Union's stances towards Iraq at various stages.
    He pointed to the importance of international efforts supporting Iraq in implementing its governmental program, and providing assistance in the field of recovering looted funds and those wanted by the Iraqi judiciary.
    For their part, the members of the European delegation affirmed their support and support of their countries for the Iraqi efforts in the field of reform, and expressed the serious European desire to conclude a partnership with Iraq that flows into the path of sustainable development and common interests.
