    Economy News - Baghdad
On Thursday, the Prime Minister's Adviser for Transportation Affairs, Nasser Saleh Al-Asadi, announced the imminent launch of the integrated transportation system in Iraq, while explaining its details.
Al-Asadi said, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), followed by "Al-Iqtisad News": "There is a re-study of land, air or river transport, because this sector has been neglected for many years and there is no maintenance, development or development of new ideas," adding: " We are in the process of drawing up plans to transfer international expertise to Iraq in these areas."
He added, "There are studies developed in cooperation with all governorates to experiment with integrated transport systems with the development of the aviation sector and the river transport sector."
He stressed "the necessity of restoring the efficiency of public transport and coordination with private transport," pointing out that "there is a program called the Integrated Transport System in Iraq, which will start in Baghdad, Basra and Nineveh, and will be launched later in the rest of the provinces."
He continued, "My role as an advisor to the Prime Minister for transportation affairs is to present the best formulas for government administration and direct the application of this context as required by the Iraqi street," explaining that "there are laws and rules of traffic behavior that must be done."
He pointed out that "in countries of the world there are paid roads in order to reduce congestion and also provide an amount for maintenance," explaining that "direct transportation systems will reclassify streets and public transport again, and redevelop the distances traveled by public transport, in addition to the existence of a metro project." Baghdad and Basra Metro.
He stressed, "The need for the transportation sector to develop in Iraq, in addition to the fact that re-application and imposition of the system is the main and essential tool," pointing to "the tendency to move to the smart transportation system in Iraq, that is, moving the process in a smart way to contribute a lot to solving transportation problems."
He stated that "the nature of the partnership between the private and public sectors will determine the level of development of transport in the future," pointing out that "without the development of transport, no project can be accomplished, so the transport system, whether commercial or private, are two important projects that we are currently working on developing."
And he added, "We are working on adopting global technologies in establishing the port of Faw, with the adoption of the customs automation process, port control systems, and container rotation systems," explaining that "there are several projects that opened at the beginning of this month, which is the container handling yard, which is called the welcome yard."
And he indicated that "the port of Faw and the development path are complementary to each other," pointing out that "international delegations have begun to come to Iraq, as there is a delegation from Singapore that is transferring the experience in automating the container handling process in the port of Singapore."
He pointed out that "many conferences and meetings were held to convey the global development of the transport sector," explaining that "work is currently underway to develop internal regulations in the transport sector or in the ports or aviation sectors."
And on the path of development, Al-Asadi mentioned that "a lengthy meeting on the path of development was held recently and the general investment picture was discussed, through a set of decisions taken to appoint a consultant and set the economic strategy," noting that "the development path project will put Iraq in the ranks of developed countries."
He concluded, "We are in the process of negotiations with international consultants, and the project will be a source of great confidence and credibility in the world."
