Baghdad Governorate is working with the Ministry of Education to end the issue of caravan schools, by providing the necessary lands to establish new schools on them, stressing the capital’s need for 1,000 schools in the center and peripheries.
Governor Engineer Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Iqtisad News” that Baghdad needs 1,000 schools in its center and the outskirts, indicating that there is a problem represented by the scarcity of lands suitable for school buildings in Baghdad, especially the central and eastern areas of the canal, so... The governorate is trying to compensate for this by exploiting empty spaces inside schools or adding floors to build school wings and additional classrooms, as an alternative to double shifts.
In the same context, he explained that the governorate is coordinating with the Ministry of Education to end the file of the caravan buildings that have become dilapidated and prone to collapse and are not suitable for the educational process, pointing out at the same time that it has been able, from the year 2020 until now, to establish 250 new schools and bring them into service in the peripheral areas, after allocating spaces. appropriate for her.
Al-Atta confirmed the existence of a contract with the Council of Ministers for the construction of 144 schools by the Chinese side, revealing in the same regard that the governorate is coordinating with the Ministry of Education to prepare a plan that will enable it to acquire land to build new schools on it.
