    Baghdad today - Erbil
Veteran Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman warned today, Tuesday (January 23, 2024), of the continuation of the international and regional conflict and its impact on the Kurdistan region.
Othman told "Baghdad Today" that "the current American-Iranian conflict requires unity in the Kurdish position between the different parties."
He added, "The region is going into a dangerous phase of the conflict, and the effects of that will be reflected in the region's situation, as it has entered the conflict whether it likes it or not," calling on "the Kurdish parties to take a balanced position and avoid engaging with one party against another, and to have a unified position regarding that issue."
Some areas of the Kurdistan region, as well as areas of the Sulaymaniyah Governorate, suffer from repeated Turkish bombing. The bombing and no-fly zone even affected Sulaymaniyah Airport, as Turkey accuses the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Party of cooperating with PKK militants.
On the other hand, Iran targets selected sites in Erbil Governorate, even affecting, in just two years, the homes of businessmen, the most recent of which was the bombing of the home of businessman Bishro Diziyi, in addition to bombing oil sites and refineries.
In addition, drone and missile attacks launched by armed factions against American sites in Erbil began to affect government sites affiliated with the regional government, in a clear joining of the cities of the region, as well as some western governorates, to the regional conflict.
