On Tuesday, the Ministry of Commerce set the standards and timings for the food ration card automation project and the dates for starting to update data in the governorates.
The Ministry of Commerce said in a statement, seen by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "Minister of Commerce Athir Dawood Al-Ghariri chaired a joint meeting with the company implementing the ration card automation project to discuss the technical procedures and timings for starting to update the data in the rest of the governorates, in the presence of the agents and general departments in the planning and follow-up and administrative and financial departments and the director of the central computer department."
She added, "The Minister of Trade stressed during the meeting the importance of adhering to the timings to achieve the project's specific objectives; to improve the ration card system and provide services more efficiently to the beneficiary segments, and the necessity of achieving full automation to simplify procedures and reduce routine, according to a vision focused on achieving tangible results on the ground.
He continued, "The Minister presented a number of inquiries about the technical procedures related to cleaning the data and preparing it to start updating through the unified card data, and also addressed the requirements required to deal with developments that may occur during the implementation of the data update."
The Minister indicated - according to the statement - the extent to which the program can be expanded in the future in coordination with the rest of the government agencies in order to unify the database to reach targeting the eligible segments of the ration system.
He continued, "During the meeting, views were exchanged on the technical issues related to the system, and all inquiries raised by the Minister were answered by the technical company and the Planning and Follow-up Department."
