The ministry said in a statement, "We have followed with great interest and keenness the sound directives issued by the highest religious authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani (may his shadow be extended) in a number of important files related to the work of the Ministry of Interior and other security formations, including combating drugs and psychotropic substances, this extremely important issue that the competent authorities are working on to save society from this dangerous scourge."

The statement added that "the Ministry of Interior has made great strides in this regard on more than one track, whether in terms of pursuing the dealers of these poisons and holding the promoters and users accountable, in addition to opening about 16 forced clinics to rehabilitate the victims, and that what His Eminence the Supreme Authority has directed is considered an incentive to complete the process of combating drugs and making sacrifices to save Iraqi society from drugs."

The ministry's statement pointed out that "the Ministry of Interior, according to the paragraphs of the government program of the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, has developed a set of plans to fulfill the responsibility that falls on its shoulders, especially in the field of combating corruption and corruptors and combating crime in all its forms. It has achieved good rates in reducing the crime rate and not being lenient with any party that was trying to destabilize security and stability and bringing them to justice after conducting legal investigations in which we introduced modern methods based on honest professional academic work and placing the principles of human rights at the forefront of the work, especially during the investigation of the accused, and holding accountable anyone who extracts confessions by illegal means and using methods far from humanity."

The ministry continued in its statement that "the Ministry of Interior, through the supervisory authorities, continues to hold accountable any violator of the laws, regardless of his rank or position. A number of officers and members who abused police work have been dismissed and held accountable," expressing "thanks, gratitude and appreciation to the owner of the courageous positions and the blessed fatwa, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani (may his shadow be eternal), and we will continue to be guided by his light and follow his sound directives."

The office of the supreme religious authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, published a set of answers to questions submitted to the office, based on the fatwas of the supreme authority, which included the prohibition of transporting, trading, or providing assistance in transporting drugs in all their forms.

The group of answers reviewed by Sumaria News stated that all types of drugs are prohibited and the money obtained through them is illicit and it is forbidden to dispose of it, considering that it is permissible to use some narcotic drugs if a specialist doctor recommends them.

He stressed that "we should boycott dealings with anyone who smuggles or trades drugs, and there is no difference in the prohibition of drug trade and transportation."
