A statement by the German Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday “The Foreign Minister of Germany, Guido Westerwelle, made a phone call with the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zibari during which he showed his condemnation to the terrorist operations that target the civilians in the country.”
Westerwelle also expressed his concerns on “the shaky security and political situation and the surge of violence that targets the citizens in Iraq.”
“Zibari explained the constant government measures to contain the spate of violence and counter the terrorism, stressing “All the political, religious and society leaders are eager to stand side by side in face of the current challenges,” according to the statement.
“Both sides exchanged views over the developments of the Syrian crisis and its implications on the internal situation and Iraq’s view towards the international efforts to hold upcoming 2nd Geneva Conference,” the statement concluded.
