    Economy News-Baghdad
    Today, Wednesday, the Minister of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities, Bankin Rikani, announced the opening of the international road, while revealing the inclusion of new roads and bridges in Baghdad within the 2023 budget. 
    Rikani told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "The international road linking the province of Babil, the holy city of Karbala, and the holy city of Najaf has been completed, with high specifications, and will contribute to addressing traffic jams." 
    He added, "The road was implemented with standard and international specifications, in addition to the addition of (polymer) material in the cladding operations," explaining that "the material has not been available in Iraq since 2019 and was used by foreign companies, which contribute to the hardness of the asphalt and make it bear large loads, in addition to Furnishing the road and placing concrete barriers to protect it. 
    He pointed out, "Roads are what revive cities, calling for the need to take care of roads and avoid the use of excessive loads by owners of large vehicles, while preserving their beauty and not throwing waste, and cooperating with the Roads and Public Traffic Department." 
     He continued, "The size of the amounts allocated to roads in the 2023 budget will be record compared to previous years," stressing the allocation of funds for roads inside the capital, Baghdad, to address traffic congestion and add new 
    bridges. Iraqi News (INA), that "the department continues to rehabilitate the international road as the main artery of transport movement in Iraq," 
    and added, "An important part of the roads will be opened according to international specifications, in addition to an integrated furnishing using (polymer) that will help the road to withstand Large loads.” 
     He pointed out, “The highway is the link between the Iraqi and Kuwaiti borders and the southern ports of Basra in the capital, Baghdad, and it is the main corridor for transport traffic in addition to passenger traffic.”
