    On Saturday, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani stressed the importance of completing the FCC project to convert black oil waste into high-octane gasoline, which is being implemented by the Southern Refineries Company in cooperation with a Japanese company in Basra .
    The ministry said in a statement seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that Abdul-Ghani “inspected today the FC crushing project implemented by the South Refineries Company in cooperation with the Japanese company (JGC) in Basra Governorate , which is among the most important vital and development projects that contribute to Improving the refining industry and supporting the national economy by enhancing national production and reducing foreign imports . ”
    The statement quoted the Minister of Oil as saying, “This project enjoys the support, follow-up, and care of Prime Minister Mohamed Al-Sudani due to its importance in supporting the national economy and sustainable development, and this field visit to the project comes within the keenness of the government and the ministry to daily follow up on the implementation stages until the final completion stages according to the planned timings.” " For her ."
    He added, "The project, with a production capacity of 55 thousand barrels per day, will contribute, upon completion at the end of 2025, to meeting the local need for gasoline. We are planning the trial operation of the project, which will extend for a full year, in the middle of next year, to reach the initial production of this project, the first of its kind in Iraq. "
    The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs explained, “The project contributes to the production of 4,200 cubic meters of high-octane gasoline per day, 1,600 cubic meters of gasoline, and 350 tons of liquid gas (LPG), in addition to other products with high quality and efficiency,” indicating that the project will achieve sufficiency . "More than 35 Iraqi national companies are working on the project and rely on Iraqi labor to carry out the works and secondary contracting ."
    For his part, Director General of the South Refineries Company, Hossam Hussein Wali, said, according to the statement, “The project’s production units reach thirteen units, in addition to the presence of approximately 25 supporting units that contribute to the production of gasoline with an octane rating of up to 92 degrees. ”
    He added, "The company, under the guidance of the Minister of Oil, will establish an environmentally friendly electrical power generation station that will contribute to the self-generation of the project, without the need for the national grid ."
