Emaar confirms the imminent opening of the “first tunnel” within the Eagles Square projects

The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities confirmed, on Sunday, that work on the development project of Al-Nusour Square and Qahtaan Bridge has reached advanced stages, indicating that the first tunnel is close to completion and opening.

The ministry's spokesman, Nabil Al-Saffar, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "work is proceeding at a rapid pace regarding the first tunnel in the Eagles Square project, which has reached very advanced stages, in addition to the remaining four tunnels. As for the Qahtaan Square Bridge, work is underway to extend the bridge towards the Umm Al-Taboul railway after three spaces were demolished, and now work is underway to reinforce the roof of this bridge, and the pillars and tributaries have also been fully completed."

Al-Saffar added that "the remaining parts of the project will be completed in early 2025, and we are working to open any part that is completed from it. Tunnel No. 1 in the Eagles Square project is nearing completion, and soon a new project will be included in the Year of Achievements projects, of which we announced the entry of eight during this year, which is an achievement that has not been achieved in previous years."

In turn, the representative of the Roads and Bridges Department, Engineer Ali Mawloud Abbas, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Work is underway on the Eagles Square project and has reached advanced stages after the opening of the square bridge, and work is underway on the rest of the project's other sections at an increasing pace. Work on the first tunnel that connects Jordan Street and Qadisiyah Street has reached advanced stages, as the pouring of the tunnel's floor and walls has been completed, and now work is underway to prepare the tunnel's cladding, in addition to planning and furnishing works.

" Abbas added, "Work is also underway on the fourth tunnel, which connects Al-Zaytoun Street towards Al-Amirat Street, and the fifth tunnel, which connects Al-Amirat Street with a street towards Al-Zaytoun, as the walls and floors of 24 sections out of 30 in Tunnel No. 4 have been poured, as well as the floors and walls of 35 sections out of 43 in the fifth tunnel."

He added, "Regarding the slope of the descent towards Al-Harithiya, the paving works are currently underway, after completing the extension of the sewer pipe in front of the slope, which was in conflict with the paving works. Regarding the work on the Qahtaan Square Bridge, the work rates have also reached advanced stages and the excavation works and the installation of the 68 pillars have been completed."
