    Economy News - Baghdad
Electricity Minister Ziad Ali Fadel revealed on Sunday that gas supplies from Iran have declined to 15 million cubic meters per day, noting that this has caused a loss of 7,000 megawatts of production.
"The biggest challenge facing the Ministry of Electricity is the fuel that operates the production units," Fadel said in a statement reported by the official news agency and seen by "Economy News," indicating that "the ministry relies on fuel from three sources: imported and local gas and other types of local fuel."

He added that "the agreement with the Iranian side regarding the supply of gas includes the supply of 50 million cubic meters per day, and the supply for the current month was supposed to be about 40 million, but its current quantity is only 15 million."

He continued, "This quantity is divided into 10 million cubic meters for the central regions and 5 million for the south, and the difference between what is supposed and what we are currently receiving has led to the loss of 7,000 megawatts of energy."

He pointed out that "the decline in supplies reduced the volume of energy production at the Bismayah station from 4,500 megawatts to only 2,000, while the Sadr gas station, which used to generate 500 megawatts, stopped due to the lack of imports, and the Mansouriya station, which provides Baghdad and Diyala with 750 megawatts, stopped, and their production today is zero," explaining that "the three stations depend on imported gas."
